On behalf of the family of Stan Eames, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to both Joe Owen and the Kennebec Journal/Morning Sentinel for the beautiful tribute to our father/grandfather/great-grandfather/brother/uncle that was published in the Nov. 19 issue of the papers.
Being in journalism was like breathing to Dad/Stan; it was his passion and he loved every minute of it. He was so proud to be a journalist, and he was thrilled to be able to return to the KJ when moving back to the area after a 10-year stint in New York. His work at the paper, and the bonds he was able to form with so many of his co-workers, brought him immense joy and happiness.
To have Dad/Stan recognized in this way helped to lighten our hearts as we mourn his passing. Thank you for sharing his story so others could see the kind of person and journalist he was.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
