MERCER — A residence at 10 Trista Lane was completely engulfed by flames shortly after midnight Friday. The building burned to the ground.

Todd Pineo, Norridgewock fire chief, said evidence suggests the fire began with a woodstove in the home.
“It would appear to be woodstove-related,” Pineo said. “That seems to be the evidence that we have, is that it’s woodstove-related, and I do not want to say that it was improperly installed, because I didn’t see it. But I think it’s fairly clear that that’s what started it, in the area of the woodstove. ”
The homeowners, Randell and Pamela Parent, called in the fire. Pineo said they received very minor injuries and were not taken to the hospital.
The fire initially threatened three neighboring buildings, owned by the Parents, which are listed as cabins on Airbnb under the name Haven Hill Homestead. In the end, Pineo said, those residences were not affected.
Firefighters from Norridgewock, Skowhegan, Smithfield, Madison and Anson responded to the fire at 12:08 a.m. Redington-Fairview EMS and the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
The 2 1/2-story house was located off Bean Road, an isolated stretch of land southwest of town. There is also a small hobby farm on the property, according to an Airbnb listing.
As of 10 a.m. Friday, firefighters were still at the scene, Pineo said.
“The residence is a complete loss,” Pineo said. “We’re here right now, putting some additional water on it.”
