Begin, son of Lindsay and Drew Begin, is an eighth grade student at Forest Hills Consolidated School.
The keynote address at Begin’s Eagle Scout ceremony was delivered by Forest Hills Middle School math teacher Andrew McKendry, who praised the character he displayed at school. “It is very uncommon for a young person to just stop on their own and strike up a conversation with an adult or another student. It says a lot about him,” McKendry said in a news release from Chuck Mahaleris. “It takes years and years of dedication to achieve this goal. Brennan is not afraid of working hard. He is not afraid of working to achieve his goals and he achieved his goal of reaching Eagle Scout today.”
During the ceremony, Troop 497 Scoutmaster Karla Talpey explained the significance of the Eagle Scout award and what Scouting has meant to the Jackman community. Lindsay Begin pinned the Eagle Scout rank on her son’s Scout uniform.
Begin’s Eagle Scout Project saw him design and oversee a team to build an outdoor canopy and knot-tying station at the school’s Nature Trail.
