NOTE: The Augusta Civic Center serves as a temporary daytime warming center only when temperatures and wind chills reach dangerous levels.
AUGUSTA — Because of ongoing cold temperatures and forecasted wind chills, the city temporarily opened a daytime warming center at the Augusta Civic Center, at 76 Community Drive.
The center is open from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., when the overnight warming center opens. People should enter through the south entrance and follow signage to the Cumberland Room.
A pick-up service will be provided at Mill Park, starting at 11:30 a.m.
Those with questions can call the Augusta Police non-emergency line at 207-626-2370, ext. 0.
The overnight warming center is open from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. seven days a week at South Parish Congregational Church at 34 Bridge St. The center can be reach at 207-213-6637 or southparishwarmingcenter@gmail.com. More information can be found at southparishchurch.com.
