Farewell to Jimmy Carter. The 39th president of the United States and an American we can all be proud of. He spent his life fighting injustice, poverty and the plight of less fortunate people around the world.
His integrity and his courage was on display as president when he told the truth to Americans. However, America didn’t want to sacrifice or have to car pool and pull in our belt. Instead of sacrifice, Americans put the costs of their government onto future generations.
The contrast in the leadership these days could not be more stark. America now values opinions that match their beliefs in lieu of the truth.
Rest in peace, Jimmy Carter, as we metaphorically lay our nation’s integrity to rest. We could sure use a peanut farmer from Georgia right now!
