AUGUSTA – Gwyneth Roberts Lysaght, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Jan. 4, 2025. She was born on April 25, 1952, in Stoneham, Mass., to John and Lanelle Roberts.
Gwyn was a graduate of Woburn High School in 1970 and went on to earn her nursing degree from the Walpole School of Nursing, where she began a lifelong career of caring for others with the majority of her work experience at Maine General Medical Center’s Emergency Department.
In 1980, Gwyn married James Lysaght. Together, they raised three daughters, Erin Pomelow (Joshua), Shannon Bollinger (A. Benjamin), and Kathleen Renner (Timothy). Gwyn was also a mother figure to many “adopted” children, offering love and support to all who entered her life. Her capacity to care and nurture knew no bounds, and she treated everyone as part of her extended family.
Gwyn’s infectious warmth and kindness were felt by all who knew her. She was loved and respected by her coworkers, friends, and many members of the community. Throughout her life, Gwyn demonstrated a natural talent for cooking, gardening, listening to the tv at full volume, and spending time with those she loved. Gwyn took immense joy in simple pleasures – especially her weekend shopping trips with Katie and Elyse.
Above all, Gwyn was the most devoted and loving grandmother. Her grandchildren—Andrew, Amelia, Elyse, Evelyn, and Ranon—held a special place in her heart, and no one could possibly love them ‘more’. As “Grammy,” she shared with them her boundless love creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
Gwyn was predeceased by her husband, James Lysaght; and her parents, John and Lanelle. She is survived and remembered by her daughters, Erin Pomelow, Shannon Bollinger, and Kathleen Renner; her grandchildren, Andrew, Emma, Amelia, Elyse, Evelyn, and Ranon; her sisters Lynette Standish and Judith French; several beloved nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that Gwyn’s legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Gwyn’s daughters would like to thank the caregivers at Fresnius Kidney Care as well as Maine General Medical Center, specifically Dr. Andrew Smith and Dr. David Redding for their excellent and compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2025.
