Free ice skating in Clinton

The Clinton Parks and Recreation ice skating rink is free and open to the public. The skate room in the old parks and recreations building is warm and has skates available to use at no cost.

Hallowell rink offers indoor ice skating year round

The Thomas College Ice Vault provides a recreational ice experience for every skater, and it is open year round. The ice vault is a state-of-the-art facility with a regulation-sized ice rink and more. All are welcome.

Night sky snowshoeing in Rangeley

A night sky snowshoeing gathering is set for 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at the Rangeley Lakes Trail Center with Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust and Northern Stars Planetarium, 524 Saddleback Mountain Road. John Meader, owner of The Northern Stars Planetarium, will lead the night sky tour. Those who attend can learn about constellations and galaxies.

Participants are encouraged to bring 7×50 binoculars or more significant binoculars. Other Night Sky Snowshoe events are scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 21.

Skowhegan ice rink opens

The community ice rink is open at the Skowhegan Community Center. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. There is a warming hut, a variety of ice skates are available to use.

Quarry trail in Waterville offers snowshoeing, skiing

Quarry Road Trails are available for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and more. Day tickets and season passes are available. Open skiing is held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays through March 16.

A Community Ski Free Day and WinterKids Family Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, will feature free skiing and snowshoeing all day, guided Nordic ski group lessons from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., guided showshoe walks at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., kids activities and more.
