WASHINGTON — The Gibbs Library, 40 Old Union Road, has it’s winter art exhibit Hoof beats on view through the end of February.
A reception with light refreshments is planned for 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26.
Diana Gallant says “Through my work, I explore the horse as a powerful symbol — timeless and ever-present — representing the boundless energy of the natural world and the human spirit,” according to a news release from the library.
Gallant is a Maine native and has always been captivated by the rugged beauty of her surroundings, finding inspiration in the natural world through drawing and painting. Her passion for horses began in childhood and quickly became the central muse of her artistic journey. As her work evolved, she turned to mixed media to convey the horse’s essence through vibrant texture, color and the layering of materials.
Gallery hours are 4-7 p.m. Monday, 9 a.m. to noon and 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, 3-6 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday and Saturday.
