AUGUSTA — The lottery has opened for Camp North Woods, a week-long overnight camp for ages 10-14.
The camp is filled with hands-on experiences including shooting, archery, map and compass, outdoor survival, canoe and kayak, boating and ATV safety, fishing and fly casting.
Instruction and mentorship is provided by Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife game wardens, biologists, and educators as well as UMaine 4-H Camp & Learning Center at Bryant Pond staff, according to a news release from the department.
Camp North Woods has limited capacity; 96 campers (48 girls and 48 boys) will be selected for attendance through a chance lottery.
The lottery deadline is 11:59 p.m. Saturday, March 1. The entry fee is $10, and the drawing is set for Saturday, March 15.
Camp Week is scheduled for Sunday through Friday, July 27 to Aug. 1.
