Priscilla D. Fraser

HALLOWELL – It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our mother, Priscilla D. Fraser, of Hallowell, formerly of Augusta, on Jan. 17, 2025, at Alfond Center for Health in Augusta.

Priscilla was born in Melrose, Mass. on Sept. 2, 1931, to Philip and Ida Dow, the youngest of four siblings. In 1946, her family moved to Maine. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1949. After spending some time at Gates Business School, she was recruited to work for the US Navy at the Pentagon in Washington DC—”the best college experience I could ask for” she often said. Priscilla returned to Maine in 1954 and married the love of her life, David A. Fraser.

Priscilla had a long and extensive work tenure in Augusta. She was employed by Augusta General Hospital, D.W. Adams, Macomber Farr and Whitten, and ultimately retired from Merchant Shippers Association in 1996. She routinely would share how fortunate she was to develop her many friendships through these experiences.

Priscilla had a lifelong passion for music and enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, puzzles, and regular bridge games with her closest friends. She loved traveling to visit family and vacationing on many memorable cruises.

Priscilla has been reunited with her beloved late husband, David Fraser, who preceded her in death in 1974. She was also predeceased by her parents, and sisters Barbara Gillis, Eileen Smith, and Eleanor Emery. She is survived by daughters Sandra (Marc) Turgeon of Milton, Fla., Dianne (Scott) Goggin of Readfield, Maine and son Dr. Steven (Darcy) Fraser of Fort Myers, Fla. She is also survived by five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, services will be private
