MONMOUTH — A fire destroyed a family home on Bonin Road Friday morning. The cause is under investigation, officials said.

The Monmouth Fire Department was called to the fire at 1 Bonin Road around 11:15 a.m. The fire was fully involved when the department arrived, said Chief Dan Roy. All occupants made it out safety.
“The fire unit on scene reported heavy fire conditions from the start and the whole front of the building was involved. A couple vehicles caught on fire, as well,” Roy said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Office of State Fire Marshal, but it is believed to be accidental.
The home is an entire loss, Assistant Fire Chief T.J. Siderio said, and the family is attempting to locate their pets. The department called the Red Cross to help assist the family with accommodations.
Siderio said the Monmouth Fire Department called for mutual aid because there were heavy winds and the usual water source for the area was low.

“We had to get to a different hydrant. We had some water issues. We had to call some tankers,” he said.
The Monmouth Fire Department received mutual aid from Sabattus, Greene, Leeds, West Gardiner and Winthrop fire departments.
