UNITY — Sebasticook Regional Land Trust is set to host an excursion at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Richardson Memorial Preserve.

Maine Master Naturalist Val Watson will lead an exploration of the preserve with a night-sky perspective, offering insights into wildlife behavior during the winter months. If skies are clear, stops will be made in some open areas for an astronomical break, looking at stars and constellations and hearing their stories.
Because late winter is nesting season for many owls, attendees may hear their calls on the way down the trail. Some time will be spent exploring nighttime adaptations before heading back to the parking lot.
The program will be 90 minutes depending on group interest, and families are welcome. Snowshoes or cross-country skis are recommended for this field trip, and those who attend are encouraged to dress for the weather.
A rain date has been set for Saturday, March 1.
Attendees meet at the kiosk at the Richardson Memorial Preserve on Stevens Road; directions are online. The program is free, but registration is required.
