Sen. Angus King, I-Maine, is expected to appear Sunday on “60 Minutes” during a segment on the 3-year-old war in Ukraine.

Correspondent Scott Pelley interviewed King on Thursday in Washington, D.C., asking him about shifting U.S. support for the country that was invaded by Russia on Feb. 24, 2022.

King told Pelley how important it is to maintain support for Ukraine because it shares U.S. values, spokesman Matthew Felling said. King also noted that he believes most members of Congress agree with him, though public support has waned.

Relations between the two countries took a turn Friday, when President Donald Trump called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “disrespectful” during a heated meeting in the Oval Office and abruptly called off signing a deal to mine rare earth minerals in Ukraine.
