PITTSFIELD — An 18-year-old was arrested Sunday in connection with an attempted robbery, police said.
Thomas Allen of Pittsfield was charged with two Class B counts of attempted robbery, one Class D count of criminal threatening and one Class E count of violation of condition of release, according to a statement issued Monday morning by Chief Vicente Morris of the Pittsfield Police Department.
Pittsfield police responded to A.E. Robinson, a convenience store at 494 Somerset Ave., around 4 p.m. Sunday for a reported robbery and attempted motor vehicle theft, the statement said.
“The female driver was still in the vehicle at the time of the attempted theft,” police said. “It was alleged that the male suspect threatened the use of a firearm at the time of these crimes.”
Pittsfield police Officer Brett Lowell identified the suspect as Allen and located Allen at his home, police said. Police arrested Allen “without incident” with the assistance of Maine State Police troopers.
Allen was being held as of Monday morning at the Somerset County Jail in Madison, with no bail allowed.
Allen was due to make an in-custody appearance Monday afternoon in court in Skowhegan, when a judge would be expected to review bail and appoint an attorney for Allen if necessary.
At the time of his arrest, Allen was out of jail on bail conditions for a previous charge of a false public report, Pittsfield police said. Allen was arrested on that charge Feb. 21 on Main Street.
