Jacob Hudson and Matthew Philip each had two goals, Nolan Maier stopped 34 shots and the Maine Mariners scored three goals in the first and third periods for a 7-2 win over the Norfolk Admirals in a Tuesday morning School Day game before a crowd of 6,001 at the Cross Insurance Arena.
Hudson scored 31 seconds into the game and Xander Lamppa made it 2-0 about five minutes later. Brooklyn Kalmikov put Maine ahead 3-0 near the 11-minute mark.
Brandon Osmundson and Andrei Bakanov scored goals about 1:30 apart in the second period to pull Norfolk within 1, 3-2. However, Philip answered with 6:10 remaining in the period, and Sebastian Vidmar, Philip and Hudson rounded out the scoring in the third period.
Christian Sarlo, Justin Bean, Cory Dennis and Ayden MacDonald each finished with two assists for the Mariners.
