FREEPORT — The Maine Professional Photographers Association’s 75th annual convention is set for Friday through Monday, April 25-28, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 5 Park St.

This event brings together some of the industry’s top photographers to inspire and elevate one’s craft, whether focused on portraiture, fashion, weddings or creative projects.

“For 77 years the Maine Professional Photographers Association has supported and championed photographers of all skill levels, providing a welcoming environment and inspiration for them to learn, connect, and have fun while doing it,” said president Rebekah Wheeler, according to a news release from the association. “We’re so excited to continue to bring national talent to Maine to support our members and the Maine community and help photographers grow in their skillset and confidence.”

Featured speakers and workshops are as follows.

Friday, April 25:

• Social Media Bootcamp
A workshop for those looking to up their social media game. Learn how to make effective posts, reels, and more to elevate one’s online presence.

Saturday, April 26:

• Maine Photojournalist Barbara Peacock – Creating, Marketing + Publishing Your Passion Project
Join Getty grant-winning Maine photojournalist Barbara Peacock as she shares insights on developing compelling photo projects, securing funding, and gaining exposure through galleries and publishers. Peacock’s work is on exhibition at the Maine Museum of Photographic Arts in Portland. (Learn More About Peacock)

Sunday, April 27:

• Lindsay Adler – Posing to Flatter Everyone
Fashion photographer and Canon explorer of light Lindsay Adler will teach how to pose subjects of all shapes and sizes to create flattering, memorable portraits.

• Mandy Wright – Destination Weddings
Wright, a seasoned destination wedding photographer, will share strategies for marketing, pricing, and capturing stunning images while traveling for weddings.

Monday, April 28 (currently a wait list):

• Chris Knight – Bonus Full Day Hands-On Workshop
Knight, a cinematic photographer and author of “The Dramatic Portrait,” will lead an in-depth workshop on the psychological and technical elements of portrait photography, including lighting, color theory and composition. This workshop is currently sold out, but a waiting list is available.

The public can also register to attend this convention. Early bird, in effect until Jan. 31, is $199 for all participants. Members receive a ticket for convention as part of their membership, but they still need to register for the event. Membership levels start at $100 for students and $175 for active photographers with other levels for retirees and associates.
