FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue Area Garden Club is set to offer a free presentation on medicinal herbs by Janet Edwards from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Farmington Falls Road.

Edwards, who lives in Anson, is an herbalist and the owner of Mountain Mama of Maine, established in 1997. It developed a loyal global following when it went online selling its 100% botanical products made from locally grown plants in 2021.
Edwards travels all over New England vending at festivals and craft fairs. Her products feature both natural pain salves and skin care products, according to a news release from Lisa Laflin with the club.
She will share information on the medicinal properties of lavender, calendula, comfrey, plantain, and St. John’s Wort. Plantain, for example, can be chewed and once the consistency of wilted spinach, applied to a bee sting to reduce pain and swelling. Edwards will have handouts and how-to recipes compiled from years of research and study. Questions from the audience will be encouraged and welcomed.
Donations will be accepted at the door from those who can help support events like these in the future. For more information visit mtbluegardenclub.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
