CLINTON — Police said they are investigating an attempted robbery involving a knife that occurred Friday evening at a home on River Road in Clinton.
The Clinton Police Department said in a Facebook post Sunday that officers were “actively following up on leads,” and asked that those with information about the incident call Officer Joshua Chouinard at 207-426-9192.
At about 5:30 p.m. Friday, Clinton officers responded to River Road for a reported assault, police said.
“A male had arrived home and was in his driveway when an unknown male approached him on a bicycle and attempted to rob him,” police said in the Facebook post. “The suspect produced a knife and the homeowner sustained multiple lacerations.”
A neighbor came to help, police said, and the suspect fled the scene on foot and then in a vehicle.
Emergency workers from the Clinton Fire Department treated the homeowner, who was taken to the hospital for further treatment, police said. He was expected to recover.
Clinton police did not release the name of the homeowner and did not provide a description of the suspect or the vehicle in which he left the scene.
