FAIRFIELD — The Trades for ME conference will welcome 8th- and 9th-grade girls from central Maine to learn about careers in the trades on Friday, April 11, at Kennebec Valley Community College, 92 Western Ave.
The conference features hands-on workshop sessions ranging from residential construction and welding/machining to computer science and firefighting, providing an opportunity for young women to experience trade professions through activities, presentations, and demonstrations.
The half-day conference is hosted by New Ventures Maine, Somerset Career and Technical Center, and KVCC. Demonstrations and workshops run from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Maine Black Chamber of Commerce.
