A snowboarder is dead following an accident at Sugarloaf Mountain on Saturday morning.
In a brief statement Saturday, Jessica Sechler, a spokesperson for the ski resort in Carrabassett Valley, confirmed the “untimely death” of a guest at about 9 a.m.
The statement expressed “deep sorrow” at the death and said Sugarloaf is collecting more details about the incident. The guest’s name and other identifying information were not immediately released.
On Sunday, Carrabassett Valley police Chief Mark Lopez directed a reporter’s inquiries about the incident to Sugarloaf.
