Catherine “Norma” (Ellis) Hallett
AUGUSTA – Catherine “Norma” (Ellis) Hallett, 91, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the Augusta Center for Health & Rehabilitation. She was born in Augusta, on July 22, 1933, to the late Theodore and Rena (Ladner) Ellis. Norma graduated from Cony High School, class of 1951.
Norma married the love of her life, Stanley Hallett, in 1951, and they shared 70 beautiful years together living in Saco as well as Windsor. They had two daughters, Wanda and Wendy. Norma was a wonderful mother and will be sadly missed.
Following high school, Norma began her career as a switchboard operator with New England Telephone and then went on to become the Deputy City Clerk and Treasurer for Saco, Maine. Norma retired from her position as the secretary for the Maine Principals’ Association in Augusta.
In her free time, she deeply enjoyed cooking and baking, spending time in her flower gardens, and doing crossword puzzles. In the fall, you could find her and Stanley riding the Northern Maine roads while bird hunting near their camp on Seboomook Lake near Moosehead. They traveled to Canada, Hawaii, Alaska and Europe as well as various states throughout the USA.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Wendy Hallett and her partner David Hall of Augusta; and sisters, Victoria Dort, and Jean Bechard.
In addition to her loving husband and parents, Norma was predeceased by her daughter, Wanda Grasso; and sisters, Mary McKenney, and Joyce Partridge, as well as her brother David Ellis.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Augusta Center for Health & Rehabilitation as well as Beacon Hospice for their care and compassion during Norma’s final days.
