MONMOUTH — A Pittston man was found dead in Cobbosseecontee Lake early Wednesday morning, having suffered an apparent “medical event” while bass fishing alone on his boat.
The Maine Warden Service received a report around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday that Kyle Armstrong, 27, of Pittston, was overdue to return from a solo bass fishing trip, Mark Latti, communications director the Maine Warden Service, said in a news release.
Armstrong had taken his boat onto the lake at around noon Tuesday, and his family told public safety officials they were worried about him potentially having a “medical event” while on the water.
The Warden Service, the Monmouth Fire Department and the Winthrop Fire Department each launched boats at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to search for Armstrong. The boat was found at about 1 a.m., but Armstrong was not on board.
Armstrong, who was wearing a life vest, was found in the water around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta will determine Armstrong’s cause of death in the coming days. Warden Service officials said they do not believe alcohol or speed were a factor.
