Connelly Early pitched five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out nine as the Portland Sea Dogs beat Reading, 4-1, in an Eastern League game on Saturday at Hadlock Field in Portland.
Early got the win and improved to 4-0 with a 1.55 ERA. Yovanny Cruz pitched two hitless innings with three strikeouts to earn his third save.
Mark Kolozsvary hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning for Portland, which had just six hits. Blaze Jordan doubled before Kolozsvary’s homer. Zach Ehrhard, Max Ferguson, Drew Ehrhard and Marvin Alcantara each singled.
