SOMERVILLE — A Windsor man was arrested for allegedly setting fire to a vehicle in Somerville that had been reported stolen from Augusta.
A 27-year-old Windsor man was arrested by the Maine Office of State Fire Marshal on June 11 on a warrant charging him with arson, aggravated criminal mischief and unauthorized use of property in connection to the vehicle fire in Somerville, Shannon Moss, public information officer for the state Department of Public Safety, said in a news release.
The charges stem from a June 2 incident in which investigators responded to the report of a vehicle fire on private property in Somerville. The vehicle, which appeared to have been destroyed in the fire, had previously been reported stolen from Augusta. Moss said the owners of the property where the pickup truck was found were not believed to be connected to the incident.
The suspect was arrested at Kennebec County jail, where he was already in custody following his arrest the previous week on an alleged probation violation, according to Moss.
