It’s MIFF time!
WATERVILLE — The 28th Maine International Film Festival will start Friday at various locations in the city.
Throughout the 10-day festival, people will have the opportunity to see a unique slate of 100 films, including world premieres, made-in-Maine features, classic revivals, and short films from around the globe.

Waterville Rocks concerts kick off Friday
WATERVILLE — Adam Ezra Group with Bella Ann are scheduled to kick off the Waterville Rocks concert series at 7 p.m. Friday at Head of Falls off Front Street. In case of rain, the event will be moved to Waterville Opera House, 1 Common St.
The event is a free family-friendly concert; operahouse.org.
The Americana songwriter and his bandmates seem to have popped out of nowhere, establishing a connection with their fans unlike any other and are suddenly selling out theaters throughout the Northeast. These days you’ll find Adam and his bandmates, Corinna Smith (fiddle), Poche Ponce (bass), and Alex Martin (percussion), out on the road.
See a film at The Playhouse at Waterville Station
WATERVILLE — “A Peace of Forest” will be screened Friday through July 20 at The Playhouse at Waterville Station, 17 Railroad Square.

Created in Whitefield, the film has been touted as a quiet film, allowing viewers to experience a wild, peaceful and mysterious world that is filled with complex relationships and ways of wonder. The 87-minute film celebrates the beauty and intimacy of wildlife in Maine with surprising, tender and exquisite interactions of wildlife during undisturbed moments in Maine’s natural world.
The film makers and producers, Lee Ann Szelog and Thomas Mark Szelog, will host a post-screening discussion and audience Q&A after the 7 p.m. Saturday, July 12, screening.
The Colwell Brothers plan Johnson Hall Free Waterfront Concert performance
GARDINER — The Colwell Brothers plan to bring powerhouse classic rock and soul to the Johnson Hall Free Waterfront at 6 p.m. Friday at the Waterfront Park, 3 Maine Ave.
The series will feature Friday evening performances through Aug. 29.
Each event offers music, food vendors, children’s activities and more. Bring a lawn chair or blankets; rain or shine.

Check out a Fleetwood Mac tribute band
BATH — Crystal Vision plans to perform at 5 p.m. Saturday at Waterfront Park, 61 Commercial St.

Hit a Coburn Park concert
SKOWHEGAN — The next Concerts in the Park event at Coburn Park will feature The Authenticators at 5 p.m. Sunday.
The free concerts are held every Sunday through Aug. 31 at the park on U.S. Route 2.
The Maine band is known for its classic rock, country gold, hard rock, Motown and other music spanning the 20th century.

Hit the Picnic in the Park
SKOWHEGAN — Picnic in the Park is set for 2:30-6:30 Sunday at Lake George West on U.S. Route 2.

The event, held on the island, will feature live music entertainment during social time. There will be charcuterie appetizers, a picnic dinner, and dessert and a cash bar. A brief auction of donated items by our board partners will follow; rain or shine, tents available.

Go for a walk in the woods
HALLOWELL — The Vaughan Woods Trailhead, located at 2.5 Litchfield Road, is open daily from dawn to dusk.
The 197-acre nature preserve offers three miles of unmarked carriage roads and footpaths. Kiosks are onsite with maps, and printable versions are available online. Some parking is available on the corner of Litchfield Road and Middle Street and afternoons and weekends at the Farmingdale trailhead behind Hall-Dale High School’s tennis at 97 Maple St.
There are no restrooms and what is carried in, must be carried out.
