The Hartford Yard Goats scored two runs in the 10th inning on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly and held on for a 3-1 Eastern League win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Thursday at Hadlock Field.
Charlie Condon singled home Zach Kokoska with the go-ahead run before Juan Guerrero’s sacrifice fly brought in Kyle Karros.
Welinton Herrera (2-0) was the winning pitcher, recording three straight strikeouts in the ninth inning.
The Yard Goats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Benny Montgomery’s single scored Condon. The Sea Dogs tied it the sixth when Caden Rose doubled and scored on Mikey Romero’s double.
Rose finished with two doubles, while Zach Ehrhard had two singles.
Jonathan Brand (1-2) pitched the 10th and took the loss for Portland.
