A man died Sunday in a house fire in the Franklin County town of Avon, officials said.
The victim found in the burned home has been tentatively identified as 37-year-old Issac Marston, according to the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office in a news release.
The Phillips Fire Department and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were called to 259 Avon Valley Road around 12:45 p.m. for the report of a fire. Initial reports indicated there was one person inside the building, officials said.
The state fire marshal’s office was called to the scene to investigate the fire. Officials are still investigating and have not said how they believe the fire started.
A man’s remains were recovered from the building were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy and identification.
