The Somerset Patriots erupted for five runs in the sixth inning and held on for a 6-3 win over the Portland Sea Dogs in an Eastern League game Wednesday night at Hadlock Field.
Sea Dogs starting pitcher Caleb Bolden struck out eight and allowed only three hits through five innings, but Somerset broke through in the sixth as it turned a 1-0 deficit into a 5-1 lead.
Bolden exited after a leadoff double by George Lombard Jr. and a single by Jace Avina. The Patriots then continued the rally against reliever Jorge Juan, including a go-ahead RBI single by Coby Morales and a two-run double by Duncan Pastore.
Portland’s Ronald Rosario doubled home Allan Castro with the game’s first run in the fourth inning, then singled home Max Ferguson in the sixth. Ferguson drove in Tyler Miller with a fielder’s choice grounder in the seventh.
