Teams that opened the 2025 season with impressive victories occupy the top five spots of the Varsity Maine football top 10 poll.
Thornton dominated Scarborough and is ranked first. Portland is second and received the most first-place votes (five) after defeating Oxford Hills. Third-place Bonny Eagle upended South Portland by an unexpected margin, No. 4 Kennebunk edged Falmouth in a Class B final rematch and fifth-ranked Cony handled Messalonskee.
Falmouth’s loss to Kennebunk was impressive enough for the Navigators to be ranked sixth.
