Garrett Leclerc rushed for three touchdowns in the first half, Jackson Dangler added two scoring runs, and Lawrence earned a 47-35 victory over Fryeburg Academy in a Class B football game Friday night in Fryeburg.
The visiting Bulldogs (3-3) jumped out to an early 12-0 lead on TD runs of 13 yards by Leclerc and 33 yards by Keegan Littlefield.
Fryeburg’s Ty Boone answered with an 82-yard kickoff return for the first of his three touchdowns, but scoring runs of 3 and 5 yards by Leclerc in the second quarter made it 25-7. Then, after Boone scored on a 6-yard run, Dangler added another Lawrence touchdown just before halftime with a 12-yard run.
The last two scores for the Bulldogs were a 9-yard run by Jaiden Hebert in the third quarter and a 17-yard run by Dangler in the fourth.
Boone scored on a 19-yard run in the third, Truls Wenli had a 9-yard TD run, and Benny Arnason threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Robbie Hazlewood.
FREEPORT 42, MARANACOOK 0: Andrew Thomas rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another, leading the Falcons (4-2) to a Class D win over the Black Bears (1-5) in Freeport.
The Falcons took control with a 35-point second quarter.
Thomas scored on a 6-yard run midway through the first quarter. After a Maranacook fumble, Thomas carried it in from the 4 on the first play of the second quarter.
Touchdown runs of 35 yards by Sam Willard, 15 yards by Thomas and 21 yards by Landon Clark made it 35-0. Freeport then capitalized on another Maranacook turnover, as Thomas threw deep to Sam Walker for a 40-yard score just before halftime.
WINTHROP/MONMOUTH/HALL-DALE 21, POLAND 6: Winthrop scored 14 points in the second half to pull away and beat Poland in a Class D South game in Poland.
Quarterback Jacob Feith threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Brody Adams late in the first quarter to give the Ramblers (6-0) a 7-0 lead. Poland (3-3) responded when quarterback Damon Martin scored on a 62-yard run early in the second quarter, but the Knights missed the extra point.
Poland appeared to score in the third quarter, but Lucas Verrill’s 94-yard run was called back because of holding.
Ross Fichthorn scored from the 2 later in the third to give Winthrop a 14-7 lead.
Brock Dewar intercepted Martin in the fourth quarter and stumbled into the end zone after a 45-yard return for the final touchdown.
