Maine has long been known as the state with the highest population of senior citizens.
It only makes sense, then, that there’s a wide variety of discounts available to aging Mainers for many things, including museum admission and train tickets.
A good place to start is AARP, formerly the American Association of Retired Persons. Anyone, of any age, can become a member for $15 for the first year and $20 for subsequent years (with automatic renewal). AARP cards provide discounts for a wide variety of goods and services in Maine, including shopping, restaurants, entertainment and travel.
We’ve rounded up several other good deals for older Mainers, some of which are available for people 50 years old and up.
