The Maine Mariners added a pair of defenseman Friday in advance of their season opener on Saturday night.
The Mariners acquired Phil Beaulieu in a trade with the Orlando Solar Bears for future considerations, while Ty Gallagher was assigned to Maine from the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League.
Beaulieu is joining his fifth ECHL team. He skated in 42 games with the Kalamazoo Wings last season. The 30-year-old has played in 183 ECHL games over four seasons.
Gallagher was a seventh-round pick of the Boston Bruins in the 2021 NHL Draft. The 22-year-old played in 11 regular-season games and seven playoff games for the Providence Bruins last season.
Maine opens its season at 6:05 p.m. Saturday at the Worcester Railers. The Mariners play their home opener at 3 p.m. Sunday against the Reading Royals.
