Brooklyn Kalmikov snapped a scoreless tie with a power-play goal late in the second period, and the Maine Mariners added four goals in the third period as they opened their ECHL season Saturday night with a 5-0 victory over the Worcester Railers in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Xander Lamppa, Jacob Perreault, Tristan Thompson and Max Andreev were the other goal scorers. Andreev’s goal was short-handed.
Luke Cavallin made 26 saves for the shutout in his Mariners debut.
Portland begins its home schedule at 3 p.m. Sunday against the Reading Royals.
