Maine Mariners goalie Luke Cavallin was promoted on Tuesday to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League and was replaced on Maine’s roster by former University of New England goalie Billy Girard.
Cavallin has a 9-4-1 record, a 2.05 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage in 14 starts for the Mariners this season. He’s tied for second in the ECHL in wins, third in minutes played (850) and sixth in GAA.
Girard, who played for UNE from 2020-24, has been with the Huntsville Havoc of the Southern Professional Hockey League. He was 3-2-1 with a 3.34 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage in seven games.
