An investigation into the death of a Corinth woman led Maine State Police to charge her 22-year-old son with her murder Saturday.
At approximately 8:28 a.m. Saturday, the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at the residence at 344 Main St. in Corinth. Upon arrival, deputies found resident 41-year-old Abigail Thomas dead, apparently killed by a gunshot wound.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North and members of the Maine State Police Evidence Response Team. Corinth Fire/Rescue also assisted at the scene. The victim’s body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for an autopsy.
Investigators learned that Thomas had been in an altercation with her son, 22-year-old Daniel Derosier, who also lived in the home. Derosier was taken into custody and charged with murder. He was transported to Penobscot County Jail.
