Police were investigating a crash involving a tractor-trailer Thursday morning in Pittsfield that left a 62-year-old woman injured.
The two-vehicle crash, in the area of 949 Main St., was reported around 6:40 a.m., Pittsfield police Chief Vicente Morris said.
The Pittsfield woman’s car struck the tractor-trailer, which was driven by a 47-year-old Pittsfield man, Morris said.
The woman’s injuries were serious enough that she was taken by LifeFlight of Maine ground ambulance to Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Morris said.
The truck was going north and the car was going south before the crash, but it was not a head-on collision, Morris said.
The Pittsfield Police Department was investigating the crash with the assistance of the Maine State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
The section of Main Street, also known as routes 11 and 100, between Snakeroot Road and Mount Road was closed for several hours while officials were on scene. That stretch is south of downtown Pittsfield, heading toward Burnham.
Morris said around 11:30 a.m. that the road had since reopened.
