St. Albans hit-and-run crash that seriously injured man under investigation

The parents of a teenage driver, believed to have struck the 55-year-old man Friday, reported his involvement to police over the weekend.

Icy conditions appear to have contributed to the accident.

Police believe roadway conditions were a factor in the Wednesday morning crash on Route 148.

Inexperience appeared to be a factor, according to the Maine Warden Service.

Samantha Tupper, 34, has not been charged with a crime in the Waterville crash.

The Maine State Police, meanwhile, said there is no set timeline for their investigation, which could take weeks.

Police say Dana Dodge was crossing Main Street outside a crosswalk when he was struck shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday.

The truck’s driver suffered injuries not considered life threatening, state police said.

Police are investigating the crash, which closed a section of Main Street for several hours.

Simon Gonzalez, a kindergartener at Edna Libby Elementary School, was killed in a crash early this week.
