Jeanette Breton Chase

AUGUSTA – Jeanette Breton Chase, 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at her home at John Marvin Tower in Augusta. Jeanette was born Nov. 23, 1928, to Emile and Irene (Bouchard) Breton. She was raised on Sand Hill in Augusta along with her brother Bob. Jeanette met Raymond “Fred” Chase and they married soon thereafter and moved to Gardiner where they started and raised their family that included son David, and daughters Joyce, Judy, and Janice.

Jeanette was first a home maker. She eventually went to work at Health Tex, worked in the cafeteria at Gardiner Middle School, and then alongside Sharon Burnette as a caterer. In her spare time, she especially enjoyed playing golf, cribbage, Beano, and Pokeno.

Jeanette was a proud member of Le Club Calumet where she enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her lifelong friends. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Ladies of St. Ann. After retirement, she spent many happy winters in Florida where she loved the sunshine and the warmth.

Jeanette was predeceased by her parents, brother Bob, husband Fred, son David, and son-in-law James Violette Jr. Jeanette is survived by her daughters Joyce (David) Dill, Judy (Tom) Nason, Janice Violette, and daughter-in-law Connie Chase. She leaves behind her grandchildren Matthew (Jennifer) Dill, Jennifer (James) Moore, Michelle Chase, Margot (Roy) Cowing, James Violette III, and many great-grandchildren.

At Jeanette’s request there will be no service and she will be interred beside her husband Fred at the Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.

Arrangements and guidance are in the care of Staples Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, Maine.
