Chizzle Wizzle

The 135th Chizzle Wizzle is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday at Cony Middle and High School, 60 Pierce Drive, Augusta.

Tuesday and Thursday shows begin with showcase and end with Olios; Wednesday and Friday night show begin with Olios and conclude with the Showcase.

The show has the distinction of being the longest-running student variety show in the United States, never missing a year between 1892 and 2025, according to the school’s website.

In the 1890s, a group of Cony students banded together to raise money for the high school football team. The students organized the Chizzle Wizzle Association, named after a popular school cheer: “Chizzle Wizzle, Chizzle Wizzle, Sis Boom Bah! Cony High, Cony High, Rah Rah Rah!”

The Olio variety acts have been a part of the show since the beginning and give students a chance to perform alone or in small groups, in a comedy skit, vocal or instrumental number, dance or specialty acts.
