Keller Williams

A Keller Williams concert is set for 8 p.m. Saturday at Portland House of Music, 25 Temple St., Portland.

Williams released his first album, “Freek,” in 1994 and has since given each of his albums a single syllable title: “Buzz,” “Spun,” “Breathe,” “Loop,” “Laugh,” “Home,” “Dance,” “Stage,” “Grass,” “Dream,” “Twelve,” “Live,” “Odd,” “Thief,” ” Kids,” “Bass,” “Pick,” “Funk,” “Vape,” “Sync,” “Raw,” “Sans,” “Add,” “Speed,” “Cell,” “Droll” and now “Deer.” Each title serves as a concise summation of the concept guiding each project.

Keller’s albums reflect his pursuit to create music that sounds like nothing else. Un-beholden to conventionalism, he seamlessly crosses genre boundaries. The end product is music that encompasses rock, jazz, funk and bluegrass, and always keeps the audience on their feet.

Tickets cost $31 in advance or $36 day of show; statetheatreportland.com.

The Waldo Theatre plans to stage Dar Williams with Spencer LaJoye at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, at 916 Main St., Waldoboro.

Williams celebrates the colors she glimpses from her vantage as a touring musician on her 13th album “Hummingbird Highway.” “I was a kid from the suburbs who listened when her hippie teachers said to get out in the world,” Williams said. The album is the latest chapter in a richly unfolding story.

Since 2013, Williams has been leading songwriting workshops where she teaches students to let songs find their own trajectories.

Longtime listeners know Williams and her music are always up for the kinds of conversations that glimpse the brightest colors, woven into the larger context of time.

LaJoye is making queer indie folk music for everyone. They are a coast-to-coast singer/songwriter and vocal loop artist with Midwest roots, a classically-trained violinist with an inner theater kid’s love of group choreography, and a student of Americana music with a theology degree hanging in their studio.

Tickets cost $52.50-$67.50; thewaldotheatre.org.
