A 19-year-old New York man linked to gang-related shootings in that state was recently arrested in Waterville on a second-degree homicide charge.
The arrest came Friday after officials with Waterville police, the FBI and New York Police Department executed a search warrant at 439 West River Road. There, they took David McCadney into custody on a fully extraditable warrant out of New York.
“We will not allow the City of Waterville to be a safe haven for these violent criminals,” Waterville police Chief William Bonney stated in a press release.
Members of the Waterville Police Department worked with the FBI Safe Streets Task Force and NYPD Gun Violence Suppression Division on an investigation that lasted about two weeks before the arrest, according to Waterville police Maj. Jason Longley, commander of support services.
McCadney was charged with being a fugitive from justice and was being held without bail at the Kennebec County jail in Augusta.
Officials did not expect any additional charges for McCadney, or anyone else involved in the search warrant execution.
