Carolyn Cecilia Wentworth

READFIELD – Carolyn Cecilia Wentworth, 75, a resident of Readfield, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2026. Born on Nov. 12, 1950, in Lewiston, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Vivian (Duguay) Rea.

She graduated from Skowhegan Area High School, class of 1969, and received her B.S. degree in elementary education from the University of Maine at Farmington in 1973. She worked as a First-Grade teacher for many years, creating happy memories while teaching students to read at North Elementary in Skowhegan. Reading was Carolyn’s lifelong passion, fueling her curiosity and interest in diverse perspectives. She would, however, put a book down to root for her beloved Boston Red Sox.

Carolyn also loved classic movies, daily puzzles, and spending time outdoors with her husband, Jerry. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren and was a constant source of positivity and joy for her family and all who knew her. Her lasting legacy will be her generous spirit and endless optimism, which will be felt for generations to come.

Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Jerrold Wentworth; three daughters, Cory (Brian) Demoree of Portland, Erin (Gabe) Williams of Chicago, Ill., Megan (Dan) Williams of Elgin, Texas; a brother, James (Patricia) Rea of Titusville, Fla., her sister, Marian “Bambi” (Dave) Grard of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Amelia and Evelyn Demoree; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Elaine (Robert) Odin in 2014.
