Jane Wood Pare
AUGUSTA – On April 15, 2026, Jane Wood Pare passed away at the age of 74 years old, following a brief illness.
She was born in Augusta in 1951 to a family that would grow to include seven siblings and would settle in Hallowell. She graduated from Hall-Dale High School in 1969. Immediately after high school, she earned her cosmetology license and began a career as a hair stylist that spanned over 50 years. A majority of her work life was spent out of her home salons, so that she could also continue to raise her children. Throughout much of that career, Jane also styled hair for clients of Plummer Funeral Home, a role that she truly loved.
Jane’s interests over the years included ceramics, photography, cooking, reading, shopping and playing Scrabble and Yahtzee. In recent years, she also loved connecting with family and friends on Facebook and was very generous with her “Likes”.
Jane is survived by her son David Pare and wife Tera Pare of Augusta; daughter Denise Pare of Augusta; brother Eric Wood and wife Carol Wood of Pensacola, Florida; sister Johnna Wood Jr. of Cambria, California; sisters-in-law, Donna Wood and Joyce Wood, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by parents, Grinnell M. Wood and Johnna Redmond Wood; brothers, Craig Wood, Peter Wood, Jeff Wood and Jack Wood; and sister Katherine (Kit) Wood, as well as sisters-in-law, Gloria Wood and Jolene Wood.
Jane wishes for her remains to be donated to the University of New England and thus internment will happen following the Spring semester of 2027. The family sends their gratitude to the staff of Gray Birch Long Term Care for their care and kindness.
