AUGUSTA – Allene B. Smith, 91, of Augusta, formerly of Wayne, passed away Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Augusta Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Augusta.

She was born on June 30, 1934, the daughter of Allen D. Brown and Bertha (Chadwick) Langill. Allene was a 1952 graduate of Cony High School. She went on to attend Gates Business School and worked as a secretary until her marriage.

In May of 1965, she married Roland W. Smith of Monmouth. They enjoyed 38 years together before his passing on June 2, 2003. Allene dedicated her life to her family and home. She enjoyed gardening, church, and hearing about her grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by her children, Laurie Smith of Laramie, Wyo., Brenda Ringrose and her husband Larry of Augusta, and Darrell Smith and his wife Amy of Old Town; her grandchildren, Maria Smith-Lopez, Megan Ringrose, Garrett Smith, and Blaine Smith; and her nephew, Bruce and niece, Jenny.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters Katherine DeArmond and Margaret Langill, and her brother, Roger Langill.
