Maesyn Atherton hit a bases-loaded triple and Abigale Carey didn’t allow a hit or a walk as Skowhegan opened its softball season with a 15-0 win over Brunswick in three innings Tuesday at Skowhegan.

Carey retired nine of the 10 batters she faced. Brunswick’s lone base runner was on an error.

Atherton got two of Skowhegan’s six hits.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 15, VALLEY 0: The Panthers took advantage of 13 walks and cruised to a season-opening win over the Cavaliers in a game shortened to three innings in Yarmouth.

Aurora Bleier had three hits, including a double, and Cami Casserly added two hits. Jordan Nash hit a double. Lily Fortin struck out seven, walked one and allowed one hit to earn the win.

GIRLS LACROSSE

LEWISTON/OAK HILL 5, NOKOMIS/MCI 2: Anna Courtemanche’s four goals propelled the Blue Devils (1-0) past the Nokomis/MCI (1-1) in Newport.

Caroline Reedy also scored for Lewiston, while Jayda Smith, Lexus Keene, Skylar Vachon and Lilly Beaulieu each had an assist. Goalie Hannah Burleigh made seven saves.

WELLS 13, GARDINER/HALL-DALE 1: Caitlin Rooney compiled five goals and three assists as the Warriors (2-0) defeated the Tigers (1-1) in Wells.

Payton Maxon and Eva Talevi each added two goals. Maxon also had two assists.

Catherine Mansir scored in the final seconds for Gardiner/Hall-Dale.
