Evelyn Pettengill doubled, tripled and drove in a run to boost Monmouth softball to an 11-1 season opening win over Oak Hill in six innings Wednesday in Wales.

Pettengill finished with three hits and three runs. She went the distance in the circle, striking out six, allowing four hits and walking two.

Lila Poussard and Hayli Paradis each collected two hits and an RBI for the Mustnags. Kaitlyn Frost, Addison Boisvert and Aubrey Johnson each drove in a run.

Izzy Whitaker doubled for Oak Hill.

EDWARD LITTLE 11, MESSALONSKEE 0: Chloe LeBlanc struck out 16 batters and pitched a one-hitter while also pacing the Red Eddies’ offense in their season-opening six-inning win over the Eagles in Oakland.

LeBlanc had four hits, including a triple, and drove in four runs. Elizabeth Galway doubled and scored two runs for Edward Little, Allie Michaud added two hits and scored a run, and Lauren Bolduc contributed a hit, a run and an RBI.

The game was scoreless until the Red Eddies plated four runs in the top of third, then they finished it off with a five-run sixth.

Lauren Swails had Messalonskee’s lone hit. She also struck out two batters.
