Arthur “Joe” Simpson
WINSLOW – Arthur “Joe” Simpson, 88, of Winslow, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta. Arthur was born in Waterville on Nov. 17, 1937, the son of Arthur H. Simpson and Evelyn (Reynolds) Simpson.
Arthur worked for 26 years at Fort Halifax Packing Company as a processing plant manager. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips accompanied by family and friends at their camp on Sebec Lake. His hobbies included playing cards with friends, bowling in leagues, and watching the New York Yankees. In his later years he enjoyed trips to the casino. He was always there to lend a helping hand with small projects at the homes of his children.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Eva Rabideau.
He is survived by his wife Lucille (Holt) Simpson of 69 years; his two children and their spouses, Russell Simpson and his wife Susan of Winslow, and Tammy Olauson and her husband Jon of Benton; three grandchildren, Matthew Simpson of Winslow, Meloney Santeusanio and her husband Tom of Scarborough, Tiffany Palow of Waterville; and one great-granddaughter, Lucy Santeusanio.
At his request, there will be no visiting hours. He will be celebrated at a private family gathering at Howard Cemetery in Winslow.
