The Boston Red Sox on Sunday named Kyle Sasala acting manager of the Portland Sea Dogs.
Sasala, 35, a defensive coach in Portland, is in his third season with the organization.
His promotion comes after the Red Sox fired manager Alex Cora and several coaches after a game Saturday in Baltimore. Portland manager Chad Epperson was promoted to interim third base coach in Boston.
Sasala came to Portland after coaching Grove City College from 2016-23.
