Thoughts for Janet Mills and Graham Platner supporters.

If this U.S. Senate rivalry becomes any more viral, we’re in trouble.

Our sitting senator, who is perpetually “concerned,” continues to vote with Republicans, MAGA and President Trump when needed. When not needed, she makes like she is an independent.

If the fight between Platner and Mills defines this year’s voting, many Maine voters may stay at home for the important vote in November. Think back to the 2024 presidential election. The only reason we have Trump and his chaos is that too many voters stayed home and didn’t vote for Kamala Harris.

I urge voters to please put their rivalry in their back pocket this November. If they stay at home because their Senate choice doesn’t win the primary, the sitting senator will win — and that senator will continue to support Trump and the MAGA movement.
