I am disappointed that Graham Platner is leading Gov. Mills in the polls. He is saying what people want to hear, but does he know how to govern? Janet Mills worked her way up. She knows policy and governance inside out. Has her opponent spent any time in public service?
Platner’s military service was an honorable contribution to this country, so we thank him. I have known dozens of veterans in my career that have served in combat. They did not come back disparaging women or wearing Nazi symbols.
We know what happens when people elect someone who doesn’t know how to govern. What has Platner done to prove that he is qualified for such a high position? When a person is serving in Congress, he or she needs to hit the ground running.
I support the governor’s policies. She is competent and smart. She has served as district attorney, attorney general, served in the Maine State Legislature and two terms as governor. She has also worked in the private sector as an attorney.
If her age is the reason people give for not supporting her, that’s ageist. How can we object to age and call ourselves members of the party of inclusiveness?
